Clinical descriptions
Each procedure page is built from UK guidance and licensing: NICE, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, NHS information and the UK product licence for any drug or device involved. We describe what the procedure is, who it is usually suitable for, the main risks as the guidance states them, and the typical recovery. We do not include treatments that are not approved for use in the UK, and we do not quote success rates that are not published in the guidance we cite.
Clinical review
Procedure pages are reviewed by consultant ophthalmic surgeons who perform them. The review checks that the description, suitability, risks and recovery match current practice. A reviewed page names the reviewing consultant and links to their profile; the review date is the date shown on the page.
Price ranges
Typical prices are compiled from the published price lists of private clinics in the UK and shown as a range for the procedure, per eye where that is how clinics quote. We refresh them when the lists we draw on change. They exclude consultation and diagnostic fees unless the page says otherwise, and they cannot account for the lens, implant or technique your consultant may recommend, which is why every price page tells you to treat the range as a starting point and the clinic’s written quote as the price.
Clinic and location information
Clinic locations, the procedures offered at each, and who leads them are taken from the clinics’ own published information and confirmed with them. Where we say a service is consultant-led, that is the clinic’s description of how the service is run.
What happens to an enquiry
When you enquire through the site, your details go to the clinic or provider that covers the treatment and location you asked about. We do not rank clinics by what they pay us; the introduction fee is the same regardless of which clinic you are matched with, and it is not added to your treatment price.
