Private blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) for Brighton patients is listed by Sapphire Eye Care from £3,950 for both upper lids (one upper lid from £2,350), £4,950 for both lower lids and £7,000 for a four-lid (upper plus lower) procedure, covering the consultant oculoplastic surgeon, anaesthetist, day-case theatre and routine follow-up. Ptosis correction is a separate line from £3,100. Our nearest partner clinic is in Brighton. Private waits are set by each clinic. NHS eyelid surgery is rarely commissioned in 2026, so almost all blepharoplasty in the UK is privately funded.
Private blepharoplasty cost in Brighton
Blepharoplasty removes or repositions redundant skin, muscle and herniated orbital fat from the upper lids, the lower lids, or both. It is performed for functional reasons (heavy, hooded upper lids obstructing the visual field), aesthetic reasons (a refreshed, less tired eyelid contour), or a combination. For patients near Brighton, going private means clear pricing and your choice of consultant oculoplastic surgeon.
The biggest factors in the price are whether the operation is upper-only, lower-only or four-lid, the anaesthetic route (local with sedation or general anaesthetic) and whether a ptosis correction or brow lift is combined at the same sitting.
| Procedure | Sapphire Eye Care, from | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Upper blepharoplasty (both lids) | from £3,950 | Hooded, heavy upper lids |
| Lower blepharoplasty (both lids) | from £4,950 | Under-eye bags & loose skin |
| Four-lid (upper + lower) | from £7,000 | Full eyelid rejuvenation, one recovery |
| Ptosis correction (added) | from £3,100 | Excess skin plus a genuinely low lid |
Related fees: Sapphire Eye Care lists an initial consultation from £240 (assessment, photography and treatment plan). Visual-field testing for functional cases is priced separately by each clinic. For the full national picture see our UK blepharoplasty cost guide.

Types of blepharoplasty
Modern blepharoplasty is a precision oculoplastic operation rather than a generic cosmetic procedure: the upper-lid crease is preserved, the lower lid is supported with a canthal stitch where needed, and orbital fat is repositioned rather than simply removed.

What happens during the procedure
Upper blepharoplasty is usually performed under local anaesthetic with optional sedation; four-lid surgery is typically done under general anaesthetic. Each procedure is a day case — you go home the same day.
- The lid markings are planned with you sitting up, so the natural crease and symmetry are preserved.
- Local anaesthetic is infiltrated and, for upper surgery, a fine ellipse of redundant skin (and a strip of muscle where needed) is removed.
- Herniated orbital fat is repositioned or conservatively removed to smooth the contour.
- Fine sutures close the incision within the natural lid crease (upper) or just below the lash line / inside the lid (lower).
- Cool packs are applied and you rest briefly before heading home with aftercare instructions.
Recovery week-by-week
Bruising and swelling are expected and settle steadily over the first few weeks.
Days 1–3
Bruising and swelling peak. Cool packs, head elevated, no heavy lifting. Some tightness is normal.
Days 5–7
Skin sutures are removed at the one-week wound check. Bruising begins to fade and can be camouflaged.
Weeks 1–2
Most patients return to work and driving once vision is comfortable and swelling has eased.
Weeks 3–6
Residual swelling resolves. Scars soften and continue to fade over the following months.
3–6 months
Final, settled result as scars mature to a fine, well-hidden line.
