Andre Litwin is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery — the surgery of the eyelids, tear-drainage system and the bony socket around the eye. He is a consultant at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead (QVH), a specialist referral centre for complex eye and oculoplastic care, where he manages complex eyelid, tear-duct and orbital disease and teaches on the hospital’s oculoplastic fellowship programme.
He graduated from the University of Southampton, trained in ophthalmology in London and for several years at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and completed two fellowships in oculoplastic and orbital disease before becoming a consultant in 2013. He operates on more than 500 patients a year, performs cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange alongside his eyelid work, and colleagues often ask him to carry out revision eyelid surgery for patients whose earlier eyelid surgery elsewhere has caused problems.
