Private laser eye surgery on a monthly finance plan lets you spread the cost interest-free instead of paying up front. With 0% finance over 24 months, LASIK for both eyes works out at around £200 per month, SMILE at around £233 per month and LASEK/PRK at around £200 per month — based on typical all-inclusive prices of £2,400 per eye for LASIK, £2,800 per eye for SMILE and £2,400 per eye for LASEK/PRK. Every plan covers your consultation, the treatment itself and your aftercare, with the same consultant looking after you throughout.
How laser eye surgery finance works
Finance splits the total cost of your treatment into equal monthly payments. Most patients choose a 0% APR interest-free plan over 12 or 24 months, so the amount you repay is exactly the price of the surgery — no more. Longer interest-bearing plans over up to 5 years are also available if you prefer smaller monthly payments. Finance is arranged at your consultation once your surgeon has confirmed you are suitable, and it is subject to a simple credit check and status.
The monthly figure depends on the procedure you need and the plan length you choose. The table below shows representative examples for both eyes on a 0% plan over 24 months.
| Procedure | From (both eyes) | 0% over 24 months |
|---|---|---|
| LASIK | £4,800 | ~£200 / month |
| LASEK / PRK | £4,800 | ~£200 / month |
| SMILE | £5,600 | ~£233 / month |
Examples are representative and assume a 0% APR plan with no deposit; your exact monthly payment is confirmed at consultation. See the full breakdown on our finance page and the treatment-by-treatment prices in the laser eye surgery cost guide.
Want to know your monthly payment? A consultation confirms which procedure suits your eyes and gives you an exact, personalised finance quote.

Three laser techniques are widely used in the UK. Your surgeon recommends the best fit for your prescription, corneal thickness and lifestyle at your assessment.
Not sure laser is right for you? Over-45s are often better suited to refractive lens exchange, which can also be spread on finance. Compare the two in lens replacement vs laser over 50, or explore implantable contact lenses (ICL) for high prescriptions.
What happens during laser eye surgery
Laser vision correction is a day-case procedure under anaesthetic eye drops — painless, with both eyes usually treated in the same short visit lasting around 20–30 minutes.
- Numbing drops are placed in each eye; no injections or general anaesthetic are needed.
- For LASIK a thin flap is created (or a small keyhole incision for SMILE, or the surface layer gently moved for LASEK/PRK).
- A cool excimer or femtosecond laser precisely reshapes the cornea in seconds per eye.
- The flap or surface is repositioned and heals naturally without stitches.
- You rest briefly, then go home the same day with someone to drive you.
Recovery week-by-week
Day of surgery
Vision misty and eyes watery. Rest with eyes closed. LASIK/SMILE patients often see well by the next morning.
Days 1–3
LASIK/SMILE vision sharpens quickly. LASEK/PRK feels gritty for a few days as the surface heals.
Week 1
First review. Most LASIK/SMILE patients are back to work and driving. Drops continue.
Weeks 2–4
Vision stabilises. LASEK/PRK catches up. Avoid swimming and eye-rubbing until cleared.
Beyond a month
Vision settled. Final review confirms your result.
